The Senate reconciliation package under consideration proposes major cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). These programs provide health care and food assistance to hundreds of thousands of West Virginians. Advocates say the cuts are being made to finance tax breaks for corporations and wealthy households.

  • Cut nearly $800 billion from Medicaid
  • Reduce SNAP funding by one-third
  • Shift financial responsibilities to state governments
  • Introduce stricter eligibility rules, including work reporting requirements for Medicaid
