WCHS – A report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics shows that in May of this year, 717,000 jobs were held within the state, but a year ago that number was more than 725,000.

Executive director for the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy Kelly Allen said elections could be a reason why.
“May 2024 was an election year,” Allen said. “Mays can be funny to look at and poll workers and elections actually show up in local government data.”
