This is part of a series of similar demonstrations that several coalitions in the state came together to organize to try and urge the state’s lawmakers to vote against the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” including a gathering on Charleston’s West Side on Tuesday
“Our only ask here tonight is for a meeting with Carol Miller, the woman who’s supposed to represent us and who basically has ignored us, her entire tenure in congress,” protester Gina Milum said. “She’s not thinking about us. Southern West Virginia has one of the largest amounts of people on Medicaid than anywhere in the state. To vote to cut Medicaid, she is basically sentencing her constituents to death.”
