A recent op-ed by Kelly Allen of the West Virginia Budget and Policy Center provided a host of new and important data on the Hope Scholarship, the state’s school voucher program. The column is widely available and deserves to be read.

The Gazette-Mail carried a few articles earlier in the year on Kanawha County religious schools and the Hope Scholarship which piqued my curiosity. One by West Virginia Watch reporter Amelia Ferrell Knisely was traditional journalism, fact-filled and amusing. It induced me to visit the Hope online site and look at some of the expenditures state government will or won’t approve for recipients.
