“It’s a really big month to bring more awareness to hunger, because we have a lot of people that we will speak to and they don’t realize that hunger is so prevalent in this region, or that we serve over 130,000 souls every year. So it’s been great,” Edwards said.
According to Edwards, Hunger Action Month is an initiative by Feeding America that not only raises food and monetary donations for the food bank, but it also helps bring more awareness to food insecurity and get more people involved, whether through volunteering, advocacy or other events.
