American Legion Post 31 Hosts Public Meal as SNAP Funding Stalls

American Legion Post 31 in Shinnston hosted a free lunch and dinner on Sunday for anyone in need of a nutritious, home-cooked meal. Organizers said the event aimed to help bridge the gap for residents struggling with rising food costs and uncertainty over future federal assistance.

The meals, prepared and served by local volunteers and veterans, included soup, grilled cheese, and peanut butter sandwiches. American Legion Post 31 Auxiliary President Marsha Duckworth was happy to help the community.
