While Senate and House of Delegates leadership and budget committee members were working to find a compromise on how to fill a $270 million budget deficit, Dels. Matt Rohrbach, R-Cabell, and Nancy Peoples Guthrie, D-Kanawha, were supported by state interest groups in reintroducing what was House Bill 4645 during a news conference Thursday in the Governor’s Conference Room in the West Virginia Capitol Complex.
If signed into law, West Virginia’s earned income tax credit would work similarly to the federal credit: West Virginians who fall below a certain income threshold would be eligible to receive a proportional amount of money in their tax refund that would be in addition to their regular tax refund.
