West Virginia University’s Faculty Senate met Monday for the first time since announcing a university-wide transformation that could result in cuts to several programs.
The university announced it is reviewing about half the university’s programs because of a $45 million deficit.
“We must change ourselves or we will be changed by someone else,” President Gordon Gee said.
Gee expressed concern at the meeting that if the university doesn’t adapt, legislation will force it to change, using New York and Florida as examples.
