Marion Co., West Virginia, BOE Hears Presentation on Impact of Amendment 2

Fairmont News – Monday evening, the Marion County Board of Education was presented with data from the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy about the impact that Amendment 2 would have on the county, specifically the school system.

If approved by state voters in the Nov. 8 general election, Amendment 2 would give the Legislature the authority to eliminate the personal property tax on business machinery, equipment and inventory, as well as motor vehicles.

Kelly Allen, West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy executive director, said the amendment would cut nearly $3 million in revenue from the Marion school system.
