“This past year and a half has made it abundantly clear how important it is to have access to policies like paid leave,” Alisa Clements, director of public affairs for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, said in a release. “These policies are vital to caring for ourselves, our families, and our communities. As a state with already limited resources and access to health care, we must fight for policies that make care a reality for West Virginians.”
In the coming weeks, Congress will consider companion legislation to the bipartisan infrastructure package that would address paid leave issues. It is referred to as the “Build Back Better” recovery legislation.
