Senate-Proposed HEALS Act Does Not Adequately Address West Virginia’s Needs

As the virus continues to spread, West Virginia is feeling the brunt of the COVID-19 health and economic crisis. Unemployment, hunger, and housing insecurity levels have spiked, resulting in hardship for thousands of families. What’s more, the state is on the brink of damaging layoffs and cuts to critical public services at the time they are most needed.

In the next federal relief package, Congress must step up to adequately address the pressing needs of our communities. The Senate-proposed HEALS Act fails to do so.
