Charleston, WV – After 13 years at the helm, Ted Boettner, the WVCBP’s founding executive director, will be stepping down on July 15 to forge a new branch of his career. Kelly Allen will take over as interim executive director while the board of directors hires a new ED.

“From advocating for practical tax policies to fighting for the creation of sustainable jobs, Ted has been steadfast in his commitment to building a more equitable West Virginia. He has served as a tremendous leader and guiding force for the Center, and there is no doubt that he has contributed to bettering the lives of our state’s people. It has been a privilege to work with Ted over the years and I hope for all the best for him as he transitions into his new role,” says board president, Jennifer Wells.

Ted began his journey with the Center in December of 2007, when he and Renate Pore were tasked with establishing a new organization dedicated to credible research and policy analysis to improve the lives of all West Virginians. Since then, Ted has guided WVCBP as it expanded its influence and increasingly played a vital role in shaping public policy that centers the needs of overlooked populations.

“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to lead the Center over the last 13 years and I am deeply proud of all that we have accomplished together. The Center is stronger today than it has ever been. We’ve grown our budget, expanded our scope of work, and diversified our staff. We are achieving large scale policy victories while navigating a difficult political landscape. I could not be more appreciative of our team. I will deeply miss working with them, our board of directors, and our coalition partners.”

The Center is endlessly grateful to Ted for his compassionate leadership and tireless drive to help create shared prosperity and build a West Virginia that works for all. We will miss him dearly and wish him the best of luck as he begins an exciting new chapter.
