State Gets ‘C’ for Transparency in Government Spending

For a second year in a row, West Virginia on Tuesday received a grade of C in the new edition of “Following the Money 2014: How the 50 States Rate in Providing Online Access to Government Spending Data.”

Phineas Baxandall , senior analyst for U.S. PIRG, noted that West Virginia has comprehensive and easy-to-access checkbook-level information on state contracts and spending, but provides only limited information on economic development subsidies.
