Delegates Patsy Trecost, D-Harrison, and Danny Wagner, R-Barbour, announced Wednesday they intend to propose putting an end to a waiver of the SNAP program’s work requirement for able-bodied adults who do not have any dependents.

The federal work requirement stipulates that able-bodied adults — ages 18-50 — without dependents can receive SNAP benefits for only three months out of a 36-month period, according to information available on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s website.
